UO<sub>2</sub> target preparation with spin coating assisted solution combustion synthesis

A simple and efficient target preparation method is developed combining spin coating solution combustion synthesis. Multiple smooth uniform UO 2 targets have been prepared using this on a variety of backings (aluminium, carbon, silicon) used in nuclear physics experiments. The thicknesses the can be precisely tuned by changing number coatings within range ~50-1000 µm/cm . These are highly (<5% deviation), robust, remain strongly adherent to their even after being irradiated high doses (10 17 ions/ cm ) 1.7 MeV Ar 2+ ions.
